Company History
MediaConnect was founded in October 2000 by respected technology journalist Philip Sim and business partner Darlene Myles and has grown rapidly both within Australia and around the region since its inception.
Our initial offering was the ITJourno portal in Australia, a web site designed to be a one-stop information destination for technology journalists. That service, which provided breaking news, PR and vendor contact information as well as our famous Media Request RFI service, is more successful than it has ever been, being used by almost all Australian technology journalists and accepted as the online hub of the IT media.
ITJourno was judged the Electronic Publishing Launch of the Year by the Australian Business Publishers Association at the 2001 Bell Awards.
Not long after the launch of ITJourno, the company launched MediaConnect - a sister site for PR companies and communications departments. Over the ensuing years, this site has become the key revenue generator for MediaConnect with our customers paying for unique intelligence about media movements, forward features, online media monitoring and our unparalleled media database.
In 2004 MediaConnect greatly increased the sophistication of the MediaConnect website, incorporating a suite of web-based PR management tools, that enable PR professionals to manage their interactions with journalists and share information with their co-workers. Those tools are the foundation of MediaConnect Professional our online toolset for all PR companies and communications departments.
At the same time MediaConnect Asia was launched with headquarters set up in Singapore. MediaConnect Asia comprehsensively covers South Asia and also has some coverage and awareness of North Asia and India. Both the ITJourno and MediaConnect platforms operate stand-alone Asian versions of the sites.
As well as our online offerings, MediaConnect has extended the relationship building process to incorporate person-to-person contact via our popular media conference/forums and the Asian IT Journalist Awards sponsored by Vignette.
MediaConnect Asia also launched in to the Media Monitoring & Analysis markets in 2006 and now provides comprehensive print/online monitoring in Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan and Vietnam. The MediaConnect 3.0 platform provides unparalleled power and flexibility to its clients to ensure they can find, report and analyse their media coverage at the touch of a button.
Our goal is to be the worldwide leader in providing services and information that helps our customers build better media relations. We will achieve that by focusing on growth, innovation and customer satisfaction.
