MediaConnect Asia is pleased to announce the return of the MediaConnect Asia Technology Journalists Awards sponsored by Vignette. The awards program recognises excellence in technology media and journalism in Asia.
The awards ceremony will be held in conjunction with the Kickstart Asia Forum 2007 at Nirwana Gardens Bintan, Indonesia, from July 26 – 28 2007.
The awards will recognise entries from the six countries which MediaConnect Asia works closely with, namely: Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
“It is great to be able to bring these awards back to the Asian media for the second year running,” said Glen Myles, managing director of MediaConnect Asia.
“It is even better to be able to continue to work with Vignette on this project. Vignette got behind us in our first year and believed in the concept of recognising editorial excellence in Asia and without their support and vision we wouldn’t be able to continue with the Awards.”
“I have had many journalists and publishers asking us when the awards will be held, and I would say the entry levels from the major publishers this year will far outweigh our inaugural year.”
“One of the motivating factors behind the technology journalist awards was to recognise the talent and hard work of technology journalists.”
The Awards will feature nine categories which look to honour both individual achievements in journalism and the teamwork which goes into creating an outstanding title.
This also presents a fantastic opportunity for vendors and PR agencies to get involved in the awards and have their company associated with recognising editorial excellence, said Myles.
MediaConnect is making available five gold sponsorship packages which will ensure your company can be seen and associated with not just the awards, but also the highly successful Kickstart Asia Forum.
Anyone interested in sponsorship of the awards can contact MediaConnect for further information.
There are several ways whereby titles and journalists can be nominated for an award. Throughout the year, ITJourno Asia will aim to identify outstanding pieces of work and these will automatically be shortlisted for judging. Journalists and titles may also nominate themselves or be nominated by their peers in the industry.
“The awards will be handed out at a gala dinner on the Friday, July 27, during the Forum and you can be sure the evening will provide many laughs and quality entertainment,” said Myles.
Nominated articles will first go through a preliminary round and then be followed by a final round of judging, to arrive at the winners.
The preliminary judging will be completed by a panel of independent judges, who will decide on up to six finalists for each category. The final decision for each category will be made by a separate team of three expert judges, none of whom have participated in the preliminary judging process.
Articles and publications printed from 1 April 2006 to 30 April 2007 are eligible for the awards.
Nominations will close on 8 June 2007 so you don’t have long to get your entries in.
Entries for publication awards should all be in hard copy, comprising two copies of three separate issues.
Entries for individual awards can be sent in hard copy or emailed to awards@mediaconnectasia.com. Email entries should be in Microsoft Word format, where possible. Hard copy entries must include three copies of each article submitted.
